The natural world class beauty of Northern Cape Breton Island is hard to match. The combination of ocean, cliffs, mountain, headlands, capes and forest form outstanding vistas.

The region north of the national park known as “The top of the Island”, provides a selection of trails suitable for all ages and skill levels; many of the trails lead to headlands and capes with overviews of the ocean, colorful cliffs and lush green vallies and hills of deciduous and evergreen trees. These locations are natural look offs for viewing whales, eagles, osprey and other sea and shore birds, coastal fishing boats and ships may be observed. The sand beaches of Aspy Bay provide the outdoor enthusiast with swimming, sea kayaking, scuba diving, beach combing, whale watching and deep sea fishing are popular activities.The coastal scenery may be enjoyed by cycling or kayaking along the coastline photographing and recording your vacation memories. Sea Spray Outdoor Adventures and Eagle North Kayak can assist you with rental equipment and guided and self guided experiences. Evening and morning are opportunities to photograph both sunrise and sunset with an ocean setting. Our clear skies and low light pollution are the right ingredients for star gazing.
Dingwall Beach... this natural unspoiled sand beach with sand dunes, colorful pebbles and drift wood forms a barrier between North Harbour and scenic Aspy Bay. The Aspy bay beach system stretches from north to south in a four mile crescent. The beach is frequented by many species of shore birds. Swimming is enjoyed from late June to mid September, an ideal spot to become one with nature.
Beulach Ban Falls... this is the reward that awaits you after a 5km hike through a refreshing commune with nature. From the falls you may continue to explore Aspy Valley ... 2-3hr return
Winter Activities... the excellent conditions in the Northeast Highlands in winter make for ideal skiing and snowshoeing treks in the back country or on the professionally groomed x-country ski trails at North Highlands Nordic Ski Area in Cape North a 5 minute drive from Dingwall. NHN also offers challenging snowshoe trails and a cozy warm up room for Apres Ski!! Enjoy a cup of hot chocolate, water, a variety of teas, and snacks. A microwave is available for your conveinence.

Golf... Just a short drive down the eastern shoreline is Highlands Links Golf Course, repeatedly rated as the "Number One Public Course" in Canada. Highlands Links is a classic 18-hole, par 72 links course carved out of one of Canada's most pristine wildernesses, the Cape Breton Highlands National Park.
